A Roll A Day

I periodically give myself a creative exercise to keep my eyes and creative mind open to the possibilities around me. I often do this to keep from getting “stuck in a rut”. I find the practice very grounding for me. Many photographers are always looking for a place to go make images and often travel far an wide to do so. What many forget to do, is look around themselves where they are and see the endless possibilities in their own everyday environment. Below is a selection of images from some of these “roll a day” exercises. I usually give my self restrictions and only allow myself to take 24 – 36 images in a day, just like a roll of film. Sometimes I restrict myself to a specific camera and lens combination. I usually do this exercise for 30 days at a time. They represent what I see during the day as I move about life.
